Reflection on Module 7: The importance of time management and information management skills
Time management skills are required from the moment the student begins school, becoming more important as school progresses; to meet homework deadlines, balance multiple assignments, or sitting exams. Developing time management skills during school will also help the student prepare for adult life.
Information management skills are equally important. Students need to be able to locate, extract, evaluate and organise relevant information from lessons, print and online sources. Students should also be able to take notes and organise their thoughts and responses effectively to demonstrate their learning. These skills are also crucial to adult life.
MindMup is a simple, effective, mind-mapping tool useful for pulling all the elements of a topic together and displaying connections, on one sheet. Useful in multiple ways: capturing notes, organising thoughts and topics to support assignments, preparing for exams (topic summaries). Consistent use may also help the student develop their own independent mental mapping strategies.
